My Approach

About Me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor currently in practice at Place4 Counseling at Gulf Bend Center in Victoria, Texas, working with individuals from six to sixteen to sixty.
With over 25 years of experience in the world of communications, I have worked successfully in the fields of advertising, magazine journalism, public relations, and marketing. Recently, I served as the Coordinator for the DeWitt Medical Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Cuero Community Hospital, participating in marketing, fundraising, donor management, and special events coordination.
After receiving my Masters of Arts in Counseling, I practiced as a therapist with the Heritage Program for Senior Adults at Cuero Community Hospital where I provided individual and group therapy to adults aged 55 and over who were dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss. I worked for Gulf Bend Center under the Safe Schools/Healthy Students federal grant program as the mental health therapist for students in the Cuero Independent School District. In this position, I counseled students from pre-school to high school, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to deal effectively with a variety of emotional, social and behavioral issues.
I am an interactive and creative therapist who focuses on facilitating and improving communication. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. By integrating complementary methodologies and techniques, I am able to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. I pride myself in showing the compassion and understanding necessary to help individuals build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Education
I graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors of Journalism degree, special honors in magazine journalism. In 2005, I graduated summa cum laude from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas with a Masters of Art in Counseling.
License
I am licensed to practice as an LPC in Texas by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors (License #63116).
